Email Codes (IMAP)
Some sites email a code when you sign in or make an account. Add the inbox those emails reach under IMAP, and Phalanx types each code into the task waiting for it.
Add an inbox
Section titled “Add an inbox”Open IMAP and add:
| Field | Example |
|---|---|
you@gmail.com |
|
| IMAP Server | imap.gmail.com (Gmail), imap.mail.me.com (iCloud) |
| Port | 993 |
| Password | An app password, not your normal one |
Gmail and iCloud both need an app password for IMAP. Make one in your Google Account (Security > App passwords) or at appleid.apple.com (Sign-In and Security > App-Specific Passwords).
Switch the inbox on with Read this inbox. It stays connected and checks for new mail every few seconds.
How codes reach tasks
Section titled “How codes reach tasks”- Each code goes to the task signing in or signing up with the address the email was sent to. So many tasks can share one inbox, such as a catch-all domain’s or one that iCloud Hide My Email forwards to.
- Phalanx only reads new mail that arrives while it’s connected. It never marks mail as read or deletes it.
No inbox? Type it in
Section titled “No inbox? Type it in”A task waiting for a code shows a countdown, for example
Waiting for code (1/3), resend in 7:12. Press the mail icon on its row to type the code in
yourself. If no code comes, the task asks for a new one every 10½ minutes, up to three times.
